When Therapy Alone is not Enough

Some people go to therapy during stressful times, get some tools, and move on with their lives in what appears to be a magically easy fashion. Have you ever envied those people? Have you been in therapy for years, yet feel like you have not made the headway you would have liked, given the time, energy and cost? This lack of progress processing feelings, your childhood, trauma, etc. is an indicator that something "else" could be standing in your way to healing.
I am a huge fan of therapy. It has helped me, as well as most members of my family. Some of us needed just a few sessions at different points in our lives, some have been with different therapists over the course of many years. We are all unique with individual needs, but we all have one thing in common as it relates to therapy:
When we go to therapy, we can only talk about what we know. Our history, our relationships, our trauma.
At first glance, this may not seem like big news. Of course we can only talk about what we know. But I ask you to consider something else — there are a lot of things we cannot talk about and process because we don't know about them. For example, following are three issues that may be negatively impacting your life, and you could very well have no idea these problems exist:
Your inner child does not want you on the path you have chosen.
You have ancestral burdens that you carry without knowing.
You may have past life traumas that are triggering your present life challenges.
These are certainly not the only potential "invisible" issues, but they are some that can pack a huge punch. If you feel like you have been going in circles for a long time, please reach out. We can work together to find underlying reasons that are holding you back, and get you to a place where you can more readily process issues with your therapist.
