2025, Are You Feeling It?

For most of this year, I have been feeling like I am either pushing an enormous rock uphill, or choosing to hide underneath it. I have been hiding, for the most part. But now it is time for me to venture out to see how others are viewing 2025, and if they need my help navigating a somewhat chaotic year.

I am not a fan of New Year's resolutions, but naively, I used to ask for "an easier year than last year." That had been my request since 2020, and I never got my wish. As we were coming into 2025, I shifted my request to "please help me find the grace to handle anything difficult or chaotic that might come my way in 2025."

Many people have described 2025 to be filled with wild rides, and usually not the good kind. This is most definitely true when I speak to mothers. We hold down the fort, we try to help everyone we love with their chaos, often creating same within ourselves.

In my sporadic meditations, I keep hearing "take care of yourself."

I have been in this position before. Over 20 years ago, I was dealing with my own chronic illness, a child on the Autism Spectrum, and serious financial hardship — all at the same time. I was drowning. What pulled me through was doing the inner work: clearing my own energy, shifting my own vibration, and choosing — even when it felt impossible — to take care of myself first. And something remarkable happened: as I shifted, the people around me shifted too. My son made progress. Our finances stabilized. My health improved. I am not saying it was magic. I am saying that the only thing you can truly control is your reaction to what comes at you.

Therapy, meditation, a long walk in nature, talking out loud to "no one," massage, energy work — whatever brings you back to yourself, do that. Regularly. Without apology.

So, this is a reminder to everyone — do for yourself. You deserve peace and calm, even if everyone around you is floundering. Do not feel guilt for investing in yourself... you are setting an example and planting seeds for those who love you. If they see you practicing self-care, they will learn from you and do this for themselves in times of need.
